Amaravati: Special Chief Secretary, Energy K Vijayanand will take over as the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh after the retirement of present incumbent Neerabh Kumar Prasad on Tuesday.

Prasad, a 1987 batch IAS officer, was made the Chief Secretary after Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu assumed charge on June 12, for a period of six months. Vijayanand, who began his bureaucratic career as the Assistant Collector of Adilabad district in 1993 in the undivided Andhra Pradesh, belongs to the 1992 batch of IAS officers.

He had earlier served as the CMD of AP Transco. Meanwhile, Vijayanand thanked Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and IT and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh and the outgoing Chief Secretary for their support.
